Pegleg Ferret

Not fooling Anyone (Harbourtown Records - HARCD 046)

Comprising Keith Pollard, Geoff Anderson and Benny Graham, Pegleg Ferret is a three part harmony group. The members of Ferret met as solo singers in folk clubs and got together in 2001 and have since performed at numerous clubs and festivals. They are biased towards traditional industrial songs from the North East with themes such as fishing, ship building, mining and (inevitably) unions.
The best song for me is probably Ed Pickford's 'Strange Lover is a Coal Mine'. Other gems are the perennial 'John Barleycorn' and a parody on 'Grandfather's Clock'.
If you are into unaccompanied harmony singing this is a fine CD, but why did have to include the dirge 'Davy Lowston'?
