Born and raised in a rural backwater in the East of England, Eric found early success as songwriter and multi-instumentalist in folk duo “The Broadside Boys” performing on TV and radio, and at folk clubs and festivals including Cambridge folk festival, and FolkEast
The Broadside Boys embarked on a 100 date UK tour with the legendary performer Richard Digance. Fellow Broadside Boy Mat Bayfield was forced to retire from the tour due to ill health, forcing Eric to embark upon the new challenge of being a solo performer. The rest of the tour proved to be such a success that he was invited to tour again in 2018 and 2019.
Eric now resides in North Yorkshire writing and performing songs inspired by the landscapes and people of the local dales, most notably on his 2024 Album “A postcard from the Pennines”. Eric continues to travel the country performing at folk clubs and festivals across the land.
Eric will be accompanied by violin player Tom Leary, on their way to the New Forest Folk Festival. Tom has performed with Feast of Fiddles, Joe Brown and Lindisfarne amonst many others.
