2002
A special welcome and happy new year 2002 to all our members and guests.
For your enjoyment and delectation.....
Capella
are Tony Petty and Lesley Massey. Living in south east London and
performing together since 1996, they are well known at clubs and festivals
across the country for a unique blend of voices which mesh in harmonies
that have brought them considerable acclaim and continues to keep
them much in demand with organisers and audiences alike.
Capella sing in two part a cappella harmony with, just occasionally, the addition of percussion and guitars. With a large repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs, their performances also contain songs from the Music Hall and some hilarious and, at times, risque folk parodies.
Their unique sound comes as a result of the clever interweaving of Tony’s innovative harmonies with the deep, velvety sound of Lesley’s female tenor voice. They enjoy and encourage audience participation which, along with their great sense of - humour and many anecdotal stories and life observations, allows them to move effortlessly from spine-tingling ballads to side-splitting comic songs.
Since forming, they have played at clubs from Banbury to Seaford and Newport to Maidstone and have recently made their first international appearance in Holland. Previous festival bookings include Crediton, Bedworth, Banbury, Baddlesmere, Walton on the Naze, Warehaxn Wail, Broadstairs Folk Week, Cotswold Capers, The Adur Festival.
