Originally from Suffolk, lssy and David moved to Somerset in 2003 and have settled in Cheddar. Much of their material is original, but their style is distinctly traditional. They accompany themselves on melodeon, guitar and
bouzouki. Inspired to take up the box by the playing of Tony Hall, lssy has developed into an outstanding melodeon player and regularly participates in melodeon workshops. The duo has recently been joined by cellist Kate Riaz
who adds ‘the perfect third dimension to an already successful duo’. All except two of the tracks are by lssy, who shows herself to be a class act at both writing songs and tunes. They take it in turns to sing lead and both are fine singers and harmonize well.
The first track ‘John Simpson Kirkpatrick’ is a gem. The true story of a lad at Gallipoli using donkeys to ferry wounded Anzacs. For more information go to: www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A1141787
Other favorites include the trad ‘Turpin the Blade’ into which lssy nicely incorporates the morris jig 'l’ll go and enlist for a sailor’ and the tunes ‘Round House / lndian Summer’.
