Liz Simcock: Friday Night Train Home

Letisha Records LET004

Liz is a singer –songwriter who performs her music in folk and acoustic clubs in and around the Southeast.  She made her first recording in 1999 and this is her fourth CD.  Liz sometimes performs solo but is usually joined by her outstanding backing band consisting of Dave Ellis (guitar, mandolin, banjo, keyboards and percussion) and Boo Howard (bass and guitar).
Liz is renowned for her contemplative songs such as the title track Friday Night Train Home, (which is about the daily grind relieved by the weekend at home).  Others in a similar vein include City Girl; Walk these blues Away and Another YearHarry’s Eyes about a mutual friend is always a favourite.  I particularly like The Bouzouki and the W3 – the story of leaving a bouzouki on the bus and The Knitting Song.
The playing and recording are immaculate and lyrics are provided in the inlay.
