After the Break (Tara CD 3001)

"Planxty, the titleary group that started the whole Irish folk revival - featured the piping and whistle playing of Liam O'Flynn, vocals by Christy Moore, Andy Irvine and Johnny Moynihan and the brilliant arrangements of Irvine and Donal Lunny with interweaved pipes, bouzoukis, mandolins, hurdy gurdy, bodhran and guitars." The band formed in 1972 and after line up changes broke up in 1983.
This year the original members got together for a series of concerts in Ireland and a DVD is promised.
This is re-releasing of their 1979 record and the band - Christy, Donal, Liam and Andy are joined by Matt Molloy (flute). The two classic tracks are - 'The Good Ship Kangaroo' and 'The Rambling Siuler'.
Their finest record, 'Planxty', is also available from www.shanachie.com
