Sean Tyrell

The Best of Sean Tyrell (EUCD 1859)

Sean Tyrrell is a fine singer from Galway who lived and performed in America in the '60s and 70s before returning to Ireland.
"The Best of Sean Tyrrell: Man for Galway" is a misleading title because 7 of the tracks are new to disc, having been recorded in Sean's home.
The song choice is very interesting - and different. He features unusual versions of Bill Craddick's 'John 0' Dreams' and that singsong favourite 'Side by Side'. He's not afraid to tackle well-known material like 'Isle of Inisfree' and 'Wild Mountain Thyme'.
Sean accompanies himself on guitar and mandola and is joined (among others), by Liam Lewis on fiddle, Josephine Marsh (accordion), Brendan Mulligan (harmonica) and Davy Spillane (pipes).

Ivan North.
