This has Jason Carter on acoustic guitars, Stephen Bingham on violin, Steve Lawson bass, Sanju Sahai Indian tabla and Hossam Ramzy on percussion.
The blurb says, “Jason Carter and friends travel uncharted waters fusing the musical worlds of Spain. Arabia and India together with jazz and classical music to produce an extraordinary world music album”.
What does this mean? All of the tracks are instrumentals, mainly self- composed (although Pachelbel’s Canon is included and a Chick Corea piece Children’s Song No. 6) featuring Jason’s flamenco inspired guitar. The longest track, 17:31, is “Chant” which starts out as Gershwin’s Summertime and ends up as a free improvisation.
If you’re into offbeat ambient music then this might appeal.
