RICK TOWNEND & ROSIE DAVIS
Multi talented exponents of blue grass and old time music and song.
Rick Townend & Rosie Davis @ Orpington Folk Club "The White Hart" 2002

Rosie Davis was born in Woolton near Liverpool, and has been singing and
dancing from the age of three. She became interested in folk music in her
teens and developed an interest in Bluegrass Music by playing and singing at
home with her two older brothers. Since then she has been part of several
celebrated Bluegrass bands with Rick - The Armadilloes, The Bluegrass Ramblers, Townends Special Bluegrass Service, The Doctor Doctor String Band and Bluegrass Experience. In 1995 she was voted vocalist of the year by the members of the British Bluegrass Music Association. Rosie is a sparkling Appalachian Clogger, great songwriter, exciting performer and sought after workshop leader. She plays autoharp and bass.
Rosie works as a community artist and musician within the field of arts and disability and has performed with Sisters Unlimited at many high profile festivals including Sidmouth , the Raise your Banners political song festival and Folk at the Purcell Rooms.

Rick Townend is one of Britain's leading multi-instrumentalists, his understanding of the Bluegrass and Old time style of music runs through his very being, he started playing guitar and banjo in 1963 and has been at the forefront of the British scene ever since. Rick has performed at Cambridge
Folk Festival, The Royal Albert Hall (London) and on German TV Musikladen.
He has toured with Bill Clifton, Red Rector, Art Stamper, Jim Eanes, and Rose Maddox as part of their bands and of course founded and played with the fantastic Echo Mountain Band as well as the bands above. Personal
styles are hard to pin down but his approach to the traditional music he plays is open and welcoming, and the music sessions he runs are usually fun to be at. He takes an active role in promoting traditional music and is the
South East England area representative of the British Bluegrass Music Association - in 2003 he was honoured by being included in the Association's 'British Bluegrass Hall of Fame'.

Rosie and Rick have appeared on TV and radio; organised events and led
workshops at major festivals in instrument technique, voice and dance.

"Old-time music by two of the UK's finest exponents; the material ranges
from the traditional to some excellent originals."
(Jim Marshall-Chairman, British Country Music Association)
